Echinocactus grusonii - Golden Barrel
The golden barrel cactus plant (Echinocactus grusonii) is short and rounded. It can grow to as much as 3 feet tall (1 m.) and 3 feet (1 m.) around– like a barrel, hence the name. As with many barrel cactus plants, the stiff yellow needles grow in clusters along ribs of the cactus. As it grows it can develop pups which create a cluster effect.
PLANT VARIATION-
Agave and cacti are like living sculpture. No two plants are exactly the same, that’s what makes them so unique! There may be some slight variations in height, width, amount of leaves, etc. We do our best to ensure your plants are consistent and keep our listings updated. As these are live plants, they change frequently.
BARE ROOT IS THE WAY TO GO-
Agave and cacti can survive for weeks completely free of soil. Most cactus and agaves ship bare root and arrive perfectly healthy ready to plant outside or in a pot. Bare rooting simplifies shipping and dramatically decreases the package weight, which saves you shipping cost. All plants over 1 gallon in size will be shipped bare root.
SPECIAL REQUESTS-
Our Arizona advantage is our ability to procure hundreds of varieties of plants from 2 inches to 5 gallons. If you do not see what you are looking for, please send us a message and we will see if we can help!
SHIPPING DETAILS-
Please note, shipments to Hawaii and Alaska have greater costs for shipping. We will help you find the best freight quotes we can. Plants shipped to Hawaii cannot include soil.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING-
We cannot guarantee plants, but luckily most of them do just fine if kept in moderate temperatures. When shipping to extremely cold regions, we can supply a heat pack upon request or an ice pack when shipping from Arizona in the hot summers.
